Joan Chittister, a Benedictine nun, is one of the most popular and prophetic religious voices in the world today. In her many books and countless speeches, she has addressed the burning social issues of our time—justice, peace, the role of women, and the survival of the planet. A remarkable woman of God... and of people... the essence of Sr. Joan's writing .along with her life's journey visible through it, is all here. A precious book, whether you have many or none of her writing already, don't miss this one

This is an excellent book about an outstanding woman--Joan Chittister. I would buy the book used and visit Sister Chittister's web site. The one thing you should be aware of is that Ms. Chittister is a Nun and therefore, she is a product of her Order and the church. Ms. Chittister appears to focus on justice and equality for the poor and women in the Church--it is not clear why that is her primary focus and the validity of other areas where justice and equality are lacking. Likewise, the book, like all of the series books, fails to complete the circle and explain how the relationship with the Creator came about.

As an aside, it seems most of this series of books is about Catholics. What about all of the other traditions?

Whether you are Catholic or not, these writings illuminate the path for anyone interested in their inner life. Joan Chittister has written some profound and moving things here. I have put this book down on many occasions and just said " Wow!" Insightful is not strong enough a word. This is some of the best thought provoking material I have read. If you like Thomas Merton, you will love Joan Chittister.

Loved Sister Joan's insights It is a collection of many of her best writings from different books and conferences. She has a very mature spirituality that can be embraced by anyone seeking a spiritual path. She draws on many different religious ideas that provided me with many an "aha" moment. Quite worth the read.

This is Joan Chittister. Really, what else do I need to say. She is in my book one of the best real life spiritual advisors around. I have several of her books and I read them over and over. One of her book carried me through my sisters death of ALS. Her book on aging well is well thumbed. This book is a compendium of some of her best concise writing. It doesn't disappoint.

Words can't describe how this book opened my eyes to what my heart already knew. All humans, male and female need acknowledgement in their strengths, celebrated, encouraged. We all need to lead if we are leaders, teach, learn... However we are suppose to do this, without the limitations of part of the human race holding us back. I'm not great at speaking, my mind says so much more than this.

As usual, she is awesome!
I judge a book by how much I underline in it. This is full of underlining and notes it inspired me to write. The writings chosen are lengthy -- they are not chopped, and one isn't cheated of Sr. Joan's penetrating thoughts.
