During the 1960s and '70s, if you were in Philadelphia and in trouble with the law the word on the street was: "All you have to do is hire Bobby Simone and you will win."

And win he did.

With a reputation as the best "cross and close" criminal lawyer anywhere and a track record to match, Simone began attracting not only Philadelphia's most talked-about citizens as clients, but people in legal jams all over the country. From the glamorous and infamous Lillian Reis to then reputed mob boss Angelo Bruno, and eventually to his most notorious client ever--alleged La Cosa Nostra head Nicky Scarfo--Simone delivered the acquittals, the reversals, and the "Get Out of Jail Free" cards.

But along the way, he would learn a fact that would turn the rest of his 35-year career into a walk through a minefield: The government is a sore loser. Whether you decide you love Bobby Simone or hate him, his is one unforgettable story. And it ain't over yet--not by a long shot.

Bobby Simone was not only my dads brother but a brilliant mind too. He won some really tough cases and was respected in the courtroom by just about everyone. I just wish he received the aquilades he deserved in life. In most cases, crime doesn't pay. They don't pay one....

Read of Bobby Simone in Phil Leonetti;s book, so when I saw the title I knew I'd like it, Not always popular but always there to defend those who hired him, and smart in so many ways Simone knew his job well. Being the son of a criminal defense attorney, I found a lot that I could relate to, while enjoying the stories of his sometimes notorious clients. Simone tells a good story, and I enjoyed each and every one!

Good book

This is an excellent read from start to finish with many details pertaining to the methods used by Robert Simone as a trial Lawyer. The author gave a non-discretionary look into his life & times as a lawyer that represented some of the most notorious criminal cases and clients in U. S. history. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in crime novels as well as the fine line between Lawyerdom and the Underworld; that's so often blurred that its hard to tell who is presumed innocent until proven guilty: The lawyer or the client?

Great mob story!

Liked it a little slow in spots but the trials were very interesting and the author comes across as a very good guy who maybe got too close to his clients.
