The proposed symposium provides an interdisciplinary forum for discussing the most recent progress in advanced laser processing of materials and devices at any length scale (from nano to macro level) including very recent.

Experimental and theoretical papers as well as contributions from industry are welcome.

This symposium will focus on recent advances in synthesis and characterization of functional oxides (binary and complex oxides) and on their various functionalities for emerging key technologies. Metal oxides films, heterostructures or nanostructures are key materials for nanoelectronics and energy applications. The influence of adding InF3 as a reducing agent on the oxidation state of Eu in fluorochloro- (FCZ) and (FBZ) glass ceramics was investigated using x-ray absorption near edge (XANES) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. For both materials, it was found that InF3 decreases the Eu(2+)-to-Eu(3+) ratio significantly.
