This book offers a unique and highly detailed insight into the workings of one of Nazi Germany's main wartime aircraft production centers–the famous Messerschmitt works at Regensburg as well as the neighboring airfield at Obertraubling. It is illustrated with many rare German photographs of aircraft construction, test flying, and the visits and meetings of key Nazi and Luftwaffe personnel at Regensburg, most of which have not been seen before. Despite being the target of heavy U.S. bombing raids between 1943 and 1945, the plant produced 170 Messerschmitt Bf 109Es, 779 Bf 110s, and 34 Me 210s prior to being attacked. Production reached its peak in October 1944, when it built 755 Bf 109 G/Ks out of an annual total of 6,318 such aircraft. A further 1,074 fighters were produced in 1945.

The book was absolutely amazing.It covers the full range of production of the major aircraft built by the Messerschmitt Co. during WW2.Complete with lots of photos from messerschmitt personnel and their personal stories. A truly fascinating read for people interested in WW2 and the german luftwaffe at that time.Highly recommended.

Light out of Fildon

I have come to expect in-depth research from Classic Publications and this book is exemplary. The author has strung together technical details, photographs, interview statements, and his own words to tell the story of a sophisticated factory for its time. The author takes the reader through the factory's history from the beginning with discussions about production, workers lives, effects on the town, intrigues of the Luftwaffe, and challenges of production under wartime conditions. Many very clear photographs of people and planes are included, but photos of the factory buildings are, for the most part, from the vantage point of a bomber or reconnaissance flight, or in the horizon behind a plane. Production planes (Bf108, Bf109E,F,G,K, Me 210, Me 163, Me 262, Me 321, Me323) are presented in a variety of unique photographs. There are fantastic photographs of Bf 109s, Me 321 and Me323 under assembly. The 14 colour profiles of aircraft are very crisp, and present interesting modelling options. This is a great addition to my collection of Luftwaffe books.
