John McKay is an architectural draughtsman by profession, and this training undoubtedly helped with the production of a series of technical drawings for three volumes in Conway's Anatomy of the Ship series; on the Victory, the frigate Pandora and the armed transport Bounty. His book on the Victory took nearly five years to complete and involved more than 3,000 hours of work, but resulted in what remains perhaps the most comprehensive documentation of the ship to date. John lives near Vancouver, Canada.

The Armed Transport BOUNTY John McKay Bligh in 1789, Bounty was a smalmerchant ship purchased and converted into a naval transport to transpiant breadiult to the plantations of the West Indies.

An account of the purchase by the Navy of the merchant vessel Bethia and her subsequent conversion into a naval transport The Bounty, as she was renamed, was made eternally famous by the mutiny against Captain Bligh in 1789.

I was very sad at hearing the news that the Bounty was lost again last year. I have seen that ship at anchored in Cooks Bay, Moorea
some 20 years ago early one morning rounding the island perimeter road. It was just like we had stepped into one of the films or back in time. Looking at the book you realize how tough the men were that sailed these tiny ships around the world.
If you are building a model of a ship Anatomy of a Ship series is the best place to start looking. I would like to see some more color 3D prints although whats included is just plan great. This book will be on my shelf as long as I'm around .

Most of the people who build model ships have know the reputation these books have. If you want to build a Bounty or maybe would just like to study the details for the ship as a broader scholastic look at Bligh or the mutiny, this is what you want. Modelers might want more color references, but there's certainly enough here to make a good start of it. It read quickly, but I'll come back to it, I'm certain.

This is the third book with John McKay's drawings that I have that I find indespensible when working with models of these ships. I have two copies of "The 100 Gun Ship Victory" because one was damaged when building a model of the Victory and had to be replaced. The detail is unrivalled and I like these books because everything you need is in front of you saving hours of reserch. I have many other books on ships and history of this period and I find no fault with this one at all and recommend it to any one with an interest or a period ship modeler.

Excellent reference book on the Bounty. There is an unbelievable amount of detail. It's a book that will be used a lot in construction of my model of the Bounty.

Another excellent book in this series. The drawings are exquisite, and fully dimensioned. The author has done his research well, and combines information from various sources to good effect in producing an exacting description of what this ship was like.
