Don’t freak out-I know I’m making it sound like a textbook, and believe me, I hated school more than anyone. But this much I can promise: It’s not like any textbook you’ve read before. See, this chunk of pages tells the story of the apocalypse and all that came after-some pretty heavy stuff, for sure, and I don’t blame you for being nervous. But now I’m convinced the only real truth is the one you find out for yourself. Not what some grown-up or CNN tells you. The problem is, the truth isn’t always kittens and rainbows.

James Patterson does a great job transitioning from adult books to young adults

James Patterson does a great job transitioning from adult books to young adults. The idea is very unique and this series has kids thinking about the bigger picture of environmental issues (may be more poignant in books after these three so this may be somewhat of a SPOILER ALERT but only in a vague sense) which will effect their generation and their kids generations and so forth. In this thrilling collection of Maximum Ride, James Patterson whips up all he can and then dishes it out on a warm plate fresh for you to eat. But Max on the other hand tries to save the world from harm as you read the book, pulling you in as you read.

Maximum Ride Forever. For Captain Jack, who got this enterprise flying. The idea for the Maximum Ride series comes from earlier books of mine called When the Wind Blows and The Lake House, which also feature a character named Max who escapes from a quite despicable School. Most of the similarities end there. Max and the other kids in the Maximum Ride books are not the same Max and kids featured in those two books. Nor do Frannie and Kit play any part in the series. I hope you enjoy the ride anyway.

I really am enjoying this series so far. This book has just enough action to keep me interested without it being a constant feeling of reading a movie script that is all about explosions and fighting and nothing else. I won't bore you with a plot summary because I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. If you liked the first book in the series, I recommend you get this one. The characters really grow, especially the main one, and they really do seem like a family. This book shows just how stupid really really smart people can be when they don't think outside the box in the exact right way or they don't understand human nature. Let's be clear, even if they're not 100 percent DNA-wise, our characters are still human where it counts. That's as much of a plot as you're likely to ever get out of me unless a book I read is so confusing that I can't help but ask questions in my review simply to get them out of my system. Unless you have a heart of ice, you'll really feel for the characters in this book if you're not "too old" for a book about teenagers and children. Give it a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed. It can be quite a wild ride at times keeping up.

After I read Maximum Ride 1, I couldn't wait to find out what happened to these characters. In the first one, you meet Max (the leader), Fang (like second in command), Iggy (really awesome blind kid), Nudge (sweet hopeful girl), Gazzy (very energetic and loveable), and Angel (youngest but likely the smartest). You meet other characters like Jeb, Ari and some more. This book picked up where the other one left off. They were on their way to DC to finally find their parents. It starts with fang getting hurt bad which lands them in line with the FBI who are obviously suspicious of 6 kids who have wings and can fly. They end up staying with the lead FBI lady, Ann in return for the medical care that Fang needs. So, for 2 months they try to blend in at school and act normal. Fang gets a girlfriend, Iggy meets mom and dad, and Max goes on a first date. However, that doesn't last long and soon they are on the run again trying to save their lives. You also get to have more perspective from Ari. I feel really sad for him because he basically just wants to be accepted by someone or anyone at this point. He even gets a glimpse of what it feels like to be someone a kid looks up to even if it was a case of mistaken identity.

The book is well written with plenty of emotions to trifle through and the kids are all experiencing things that can hit home for anyone. It's a great read and I can't wait to move move onto the 3rd one!

I love the sci-fi/ fantasy theme, and I have recommended this book to all my friends, who loved it also. This book is a must read for 11+ kids.

I love this series. It moves fast with lots of action and of course lots of emotion. I couldn't put the book down. There wasn't even a problem deciding whether to continue to read or watch my favorite TV show. I continued reading. I can't wait to get the next book in the series. You'll love them but start with the first one to really get to know the characters and what has happened to them and know where they are headed. I know you will enjoy these books.
Realistic
The winged children series: These books are wonderful for ages 13+. A 50 year old young man got me addicted to this series as well as James Patterson's many other books. The story takes you through the trials of living in our world and being drastically different. From the school run by scientists, to the children they meet in their travels, the love and innocence of the young, versus the jaded and curious at any cost adults. Take the ride, read the series. You won't want to put the book down til you've read each and every page of all the series and want for the next book to hurry up and be available.

Thank you James Patterson for an escape from my reality. Reads much better than any of the crap on tv today. Except of course for the "Women's Murder Club" Kudos!!!Maximum Ride : The Angel Experiment (Teen's Top 10 (Awards))

Whenever I see a James Patterson book in the bookstore, I buy it. This book and Saving the World were just as much fun to read as the adult books. He writes on a level that teenagers and adults can enjoy. This book and Saving the World were a bit more fanciful, but I enjoyed them very much. When I was teen, there were not very many (interesting) books for adolescents, as a result, I read a lot of biographies. I learned quite bit about politicians, writers, and historical fiction. I think that it is so nice that adolescents have a wealth of books to read now.
I've never been disappointed by a Paterson book. You need to enjoy fiction and have an open imagination. I'm afraid all the reviews are going to be the same in this series. If you are waiting for an "Angel was stronger in this issue. She was showing her true colors as a real leader". I'm saying I am not going to critique each book. Look, you like him or you don't. I am not his editor or some putz working for the newspaper. I'm just the average guy giving my opinion. If you like Paterson you should like this. I would look on Amazon and start with book one.
