We have had a great success with this book's predecessors - The Truth About Easter Rabbits. Be sure to read the product description closely: this is a picture book with very little text that speculates about Santa Claus based on drawings taken from various time periods. The pictures ARE very nice and the book is beautifully done in that respect, but know that it does not include much, if any, of the real history of the origin of the Santa Claus tradition. Also, a heads-up to parents: Page 10 describes how Santa Claus "loves to smoke" and also "loves wine" and is accompanied by pictures showing this.

Easter is an annual celebration observed throughout the Christian world. However, there are absolutely no verses in the Bible that authorize or endorse the keeping of this tradition. Further – the Bible does not mention anything about Easter eggs, Easter baskets, Easter bunnies, or even Lent. The author includes convincing evidence to show that these very items were parts of the pagan rituals of the Mystery Religion of ancient Babylon.

The Lantern Bearers is a historical novel for children by Rosemary Sutcliff, first published by Oxford in 1959 with illustrations by Charles Keeping. Set in Roman Britain during the 5th century, it is the story of a British Roman's life after the final withdrawal of Roman troops (around 410). Sutcliff won the annual Carnegie Medal from the Library Association, recognising the year's best children's book by a British subject.

This title describes the many Easter Rabbits that live all around the world, their family life, the decorating of eggs in preparation for Easter and the methods they use to deliver them as gifts to the world's children. Illustrated with a rich abundance of imagery from old children's picture books and Easter postcards, ""The Truth About Easter Rabbits"" is sure to delight all children and the many adults who appreciate the simple pleasures and customs of the Easter season.
My husband and I happened upon this book in a little German shop near Cincinnati and I just fell in love with it. Our daughter is in college, but I bought this book for myself and for small visitors to our home. The illustrations are a combination of works from old children's books and postcards, all different styles, and the effect is simply charming. The story highlights how there are many Easter rabbits, not just one, and how the young rabbits go to school just like humans, date later and get married and have VERY LARGE families. It talks about what other careers they have during the rest of the year and delivery methods around the world (in mountainous regions, they fire them up to the top with a cannon:) I am redoing my review to give more info. I gave this book to a friend's daughter for her baby shower and everyone there was mesmerized by it. I highly recommend this wonderful book, so much so that I will be buying another copy now that I gave mine away.
this was a great addition to my book collection....wonderful vintage photos....a great buy.arrived very fast and in good condition.would order again.
