Hardcover Book
Too many words for little ones and an odd story which seems to say "don't follow your dreams, but follow the rules". Don't like this one.
I found it windy and monotonous, but also found that my three year old (who really wanted the book, based upon the colorful cover, and because it was about a train) was completely disinterested. As if I needed any other reasons to unrecommend this book, the “moral” of the story, where Tootle “learns his lesson” is rushed and unconvincing. I don’t mean to be a literary critic for a small child’s book, but there are MUCH better Little Golden Books our there for your little ones.
Hard to hold my child's attention. The story is very long, illustration is small.
Cute book. My three year old loves trains and he saw this book on the back cover of another book and wanted it. Cute story from the 50's. It's a classic.
I have read this book about 9798653 times since it arrived so someone would give it 10 stars. Not my personal favorite and getting less so with each reading. So we will compromise at 4.
This is a classic but was a bit "too much words to pictures ratio" for my 2 yr old. She kept wanting to turn the page way before I was even halfway done a page. Will try again when she is older.
I wanted to get my 3 year old nephew books that my sister and I enjoyed as a child and these were the first that popped into my mind. I am very pleased that the quality of Little Golden Books is still there! Looking forward to sharing this stories with him for years to come.
Too many words and not enough pictures. Doesn't really match up with today's standards for an exciting kid's book.
