Here's the thing about this book. It's pretty much some images from the movie, with a very shortened version of the story. I think of it like a souvenir of watching the movie, without adding anything at all. It doesn't even read well if you haven't seen the movie. Not really a book in and of itself. THREE STARS FOR THE BOOK.

BUT, here's the thing. My 3 y.o. daughter LOVES it. She sleeps with it. She carries it with her wherever she goes. She sits and looks at it quietly for tens of minutes on car rides, totally engaged. So whatever magic the book has, I cannot deny. It was pretty cheap and she's gotten hours of enjoyment from it. FIVE STARS FOR MY DAUGHTER'S REACTION TO IT.

So, I'll give it FOUR, despite my general lack of passion for the book.

The book has nice illustrations and my toddler loves it, but like with any other Golden Book, the binding is not very good and that makes it hard to flip through the pages.
It is possible that with time it will become easier to keep the book open on a certain page, but for now I have to hold every page in place for my daughter so that the book doesn’t flip back

Great book. Purchased this for my best friends daughter for her Golden Books collection and she loved it. Great condition .

Lightseeker

I was disappointed in this book. It gives you the bones of the story but without any detail or charm. The result is a pretty violent story, and one that is frankly hard to comprehend if you don't know the story in more detail. I had to explain a lot of things to my pre-schooler that I think a better book would have explained, such as why the beast was angry, why the villagers wanted to kill the beast, etc.

Got this to include in a gift basket I'm putting together for my daughter and her friend before going to see Beauty & the Beast. Hoping this gift pack will keep them from wanting to by the $95 toys they sell inside the venue.

There is a lot packed in to this Little Golden Book!! Often these books are very abridged versions of the story to fit the length and size of the book. This one packs a thorough telling of the story into this Little Golden treasure! Because of this, I wouldn't at all classify this is a beginning reader book. This is a full story with multiple paragraphs per page. My 5 year old loves the story but is nowhere close to being able to read this one herself. I'd say a second or third grader could enjoy reading this one solo. Possibly even a little older.

Golden Books are always high quality and well produced, and this one is no different. The illustrations are bright and visually appealing and follow along with scenes from the movie.

I'd recommend adding this book to your collection if you have a princess fan, Disney lover, or overall lover of good stories.

Great book to add to your Golden Book collection.

This is abut the 100th Golden book I've purchased over the years for my 5 year old daughter. She loves the fact that there are so many different stories to choose from and we add to her collection every few months. For the price, little Golden Books are a great value and are just as good if not more detailed than the board books. Item arrived as described.
