The first Milly-Molly-Mandy stories were published in 1925 in the Christian Science Monitor and a first collection of these stories was published in book form in1928. Joyce Lankester Brisley died in 1978 but Milly-Molly-Mandy�s popularity lives on.

Joyce Lankester Brisley was an English writer. She both wrote and illustrated her books. Brisley had two sisters who were also illustrators: Nina. Brisley, and Ethel C Brisley. She is most noted for her Milly-Molly-Mandy series, which were first printed in 1925 by the Christian Science Monitor. All three sisters illustrated postcards for Alfred Vivian Mansell, with Nina and Ethel becoming quite prolific. Brisley died in 1978 at the age of 82. Career. Brisley's books were first printed in 1925, and a collection appeared in book form in 1928
