First of all, I am a traditionalist. I initially had a difficult time accepting this young Amelia Bedelia. After all, as a girl, I loved the original, endearing Amelia Bedelia. After reading the first book in the series with my kindergartner, we were hooked. The young Amelia Bedelia is very kind-hearted. She is creative, excited, friendly and real. She actually has a mom AND a dad that appear to be quite happy in their lives and situation-refreshing! They are also very accepting of Amelia's unique way of viewing the world as well as her misunderstandings of common phrases. My kindergartner and I have enjoyed the age appropriate story line and also discussing the misunderstandings and what they really mean. This seems to be a great series for the younger readers.

My 4.5 year old son loves Amelia Bedelia, which I also love because I was obsessed as a little girl too. My Amelia Bedelia was an older version growing up, but I like the new young version to connect with kids of this generation. You would think these books are geared towards girls, and yet my all-boy rough and tumble kiddo loves these.

My 6 (almost 7) year old and I LOVE these books. They're a modern take on the series I read as a little girl so it's wonderful to be able to re-experience Amelia's silly antics in a new way with my daughter. This book is laugh out loud funny and does not have any questionable content. Amelia's dad is our favorite character, aside from Amelia herself. He always has a funny dad joke at the ready, much like my husband. Mom is funny in her own way too and very much like a real mom. My favorite part is that Mom and Dad are together! Sadly, many books today are marketed toward children of divorce so I'm glad to have a series for traditional families.

My daughter (now 9 yrs old) loves these books. She has always been a bit of a slow reader and teachers have brought it to our attention since she started school. She LOVES these books and will read without whining (score!!). I think they have helped develop her love to read. And it's fun when she tells me little snippets of funny parts. Keep them coming Parish!

I was hoping for the same lyrical and sensible nonsense portrayed in the older books, however this book seemed tedious. My 8 year old had no interest in hearing anything beyond the first chapter and while I skipped ahead to get the gist of the book, I put it away for later--maybe.

My granddaughter is 6 yr old and loves to read like her sister who's 8. I watched her for a hour reading Amelia Bedelia. She didn't know I was watching, but she made my day. I'm buying Herman Parish chapter books, this was #2 she loves reading these books. She told me what she wanted to read when I got on Amazon.

My daughter couldn't afford to buy my grand kids books and they love reading. I am not able to do a lot of "extra spending" either but want the children to love books like I do and have the opportunity to have some. I was so glad to find these and at such a wonderful price. I was able to get the kids each several books of their own and they were so glad to get them to! Go Nanny!!! I will be buying some more for them too!!
My daughter enjoyed this book, as well as the other eleven books in this series
