A founder of the High Italian Renaissance style, Michelangelo (di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni) created some of the most influential works in the history of Western art: the marble statues of David (1504) and The Pietà (ca. 1498-1499), as well as the Sistine Chapel frescos in the Vatican, Rome, depicting Genesis (such as in The Creation of Adam (1510)) and the Last Judgment.

David is one of artworks by Michelangelo Buonarroti. A defective piece of marble was used to make the most perfect body in history. Michelangelo began work on David in 1502, and a marble block, which he got for work, lay on the courtyard of one of the Florentine churches since 1464. Almost 40 years ago, other sculptors took up it - whether the famous Agostino di Duccio, or the unknown Bartolomemeo di Pierrot. Neither one nor the other for some reason could not finish the job.

I was browsing through my local Books and Books store with my younger brother, searching for educational books for his history class. I stumbeled upon a local author who was signing his latest book in a series of Comical and Cartoonish remakes of poular historical figures. My younger brother seemed intrigued and wanted to skim through the book. He was instantly capitvated by the lavish drawings and amusing storyline. The book perfectly captivated the life of young artist Michelangelo Bounarroti as a rabit known as Michelangelo Bunnyrroti. I thought the theme was amusing since all of the other books he has illustrated and wrote have a similiar theme with the main character's name being changed into that of a popular animal. Needless to say, I met with Mr. Toffoli and he signed the book for my younger brother who was ecstatic. My brother later demanded that I purchased the other books in the series. I, as well as my brother, are both eagerly awaiting any future releases from this up-and-coming author.

Very cute book for children with an interest in history and historical figures. The art is vibrant and lively, and features incredible colored-pencil work. All in all, recommended.

This is the type of book that, if you were a parent, you would fall in love with it immediately. The first day I only read the first few pages to my five-year-old; but the next day I had to read it completely to him. He said he wouldn't go to sleep until it was finished. The illustrations are excellent and very imaginative. Both, me and my son, loved how the real life characters were portraid as animals by Andrew Toffoli. There is not enough good things to be said about it! Totally recomend it!

My child never had so much fun learning about history. The illustrations on the book made my child want to read the next series from this author. I feel that this author really captures children's attention with the drawings to teach them about historical figures. I would highly recommend this book to teachers, parents, and children alike.
