The edge chronicles: The Twig Trilogy. Beyond the Deepwoods. The Edge Chronicles are the best books I have read so far in my life. My favourite book out of all the trilogies is The Last of the Sky Pirates. Aranga, Macclesfield. My favourite book of yours is Freeglader because I love the big battles that Rook has and I love shrykes because they’re really evil and bloodthirsty. I have read all of the Edge Chronicles books and I really enjoyed them. I especially enjoyed The Last of the Sky Pirates. My favourite Edge Chronicle book is Beyond the Deepwoods.

This is the seventh book of the Edge Chronicles as published by David Fickling Books. (Random House Children’s Books) It brings together many of the characters from the previous books, and should not be read before the others.

If you’re having a hard time keeping them straight, the books are grouped into three sagas, The Quint Saga, the Twig saga and the Rook saga. The order as published so far in the USA is:

1. Beyond the Deepwoods (Twig saga)

2. Stormchaser (Twig saga)

3. Midnight Over Santaphrax (Twig saga)

4. Curse of the Gloamglozer (Quint saga)

5. The Last of the Sky Pirates (Rook saga)

6. Vox (Rook saga)

7. Freeglader (Rook saga)

Amazon.com lists a Book 8, The Winter Knights, but this must be an import, as it isn’t readily available and the cover artwork is different. The Winter Knights is a part of the Quint saga. There’s also Clash of the Sky Galleons available in October 2006. This also is from the Quint saga. I understand that there will be ten Edge Chronicle books in all, so this isn’t the end of the line for Edge fans.

Freeglader has the best battle sequences of the series so far, and is made up of several story lines, including the exodus from Undertown, the perilous trek to the Free Glades, the hatching of a new Shryke army, the rebuilding of the Great Library, the ambitious plans of the master of the Foundry Glades, the Goblin armies, the trial of Xanth, and much more. Rook is once again the central character, losing his memory, and then regaining it, and when he is reunited with a family member, everything is explained for us all.

One of the most exciting in the series so far, but requires prior knowledge of the characters.

This is just an awesome book and series. It is hard to give it enough praise, but we have all read it multiple times. My 10 year old son refuses to stop reading the series from start to finish. Since purchasing this a few months ago he has read all 10 or so books 4-5 times through already. He always finds something new and interesting each time he reads it. For any fans of sci-fi and fantasy this is absolutely one of the best series we have ever read!

This book is awesome I've read 1-6 in the series this is #7 I think anyone who likes adventure mixed with a hint of fantasy would LOVE this series I personally just read them because I read the first one and I was hooked!!! I usually like some more fantasy but this as just the right amount not too much. I can imagine the edge as if I've lived on it for 100 years each twist in the story kept me going. Chris Riddels amazing drawings help visualize the creatures.

I will read every single book in this series 1,000 times because i can't put the book down!!! My only wish is that Paul Stewart would write more books and have Chris Riddel illustrate them.

My daughter has read these books several times from the library. Since purchasing the series, she has read them at least 2 times through in the last month. The Edge Chronicles are VERY entertaining for both adults and children. The artwork is beautiful.

In book 7 we learn more about Rook, and his place in the world on The Edge.
Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell make the characters come alive with fantastic details and illustrations.
Even for those who haven't read the books 1-6, it is a fun and engaging read, which will make the reader want to start from the beginning.
These books are not written in sequential order, which annoyed me because I am such a series nut... all in all the book was good.
