The book is the equivalent of a textbook on its subject matter, but that is a good thing because WAGGENHEIM'S account is very detailed and thorough. I recommend this book to anyone who happens to be doing research on that turbulent event in PUERTO RICAN history. This author has covered all the bases!

The author does an outstanding job of telling the story of the events of September 23, 1868, as well as a thorough review of events leading up to it and results of the revolt in the years after. THIS IS MOVIE MATERIAL!
