It took a while to get used to the reader's voice and I nearly quit because it was very distracting at first. However, I kept going because I did not have another book for the car at the moment. I am glad I did because now the voice sounds perfectly average and the content is a great combination of detail and overview/setting. I thought the author did a great job of tying Russia, Western Europe and the new United States together in world events. As the book description says the extent of that influence is was not done justice in old U. S. history classes.
