Akif Pirinçci (Turkish pronunciation: ; born 20 October 1959) is a Turkish-born German writer who is best known internationally for his novel Felidae. His statements on feminism, opposition to immigration, and description of Germany as a "Muslim garbage dump" have provoked controversy in Germany and throughout Europe. Pirinçci was born on 20 October 1959 in Istanbul, Turkey, but emigrated to Germany together with his parents in 1969.

Her assortment of floodlights made the place look like an open-air disco. But I took no interest whatsoever in that. I was possessed by my wish to make mincemeat of Alcina's murderers, although I was ready to admit without the faintest envy that they had more experience of butchery. My vision of death had left me in an oddly fearless state

"The Emergent Manager" examines the process of becoming a manager within organizations and considers how people relate the ways in which they 'manage' their lives to their development as managers in the workplace. At the heart of the book is the idea of the individual engaged in a continual process of 'becoming'. Focusing on the reported experiences of managers, the book is richly illustrated throughout with examples drawn from a variety of workplaces, including the civil service, academia, the retail industry, construction and engineering, banking and the prison service. Tony Watson and Pauline Harris together provide a new understanding of the nature of the management role and the ways in which people make sense of their lives as managers. Accessible and innovative, this book will be of interest to students and academics in management and organization studies as well as practising managers.
I'll just keep this short by saying that Felidae was one of the best books I've read in a very, very long time. I thoroughly enjoyed the weirdness of this book, the fact that the main characters are all cats, and how the mystery unfolds as the story progresses. It's as fun as a Frederick Forsyth novel, as twisty and turny as a Robert Ludlum, and as captivating as Umberto Eco while being easier to read. I had a fun time and I wish I could erase my memory of it so I could read it again!
I'm not sure what exactly to say about this book... besides that I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's sufficiently unlike anything I've ever read (though I should note that I don't usually read crime drama, which I suppose best categorizes this) that it's hard to compare to anything else.

The plot is satisfying, thought provoking, and at times heart wrenching (and yes, disturbing). The insights into feline behavior and Akif's fictional feline society are fascinating. There are, from what I can tell, several books in the series, and having finished this one, I am disappointed that only two have been translated.

For mystery lovers, perhaps this is run of the mill. For cat lovers, or someone looking for something a bit off the beaten path, I would highly recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this book - It is definitely weird! One minute it is like a detective story and the next it is like some kind of strange horror story. the main character is a pretty opinionated cat - but then cats do seem tohave strong opinions! I was quite taken with our main character Francis and despite the political troubles that the author has gotten himself into, if you can separte the author from the owrk, then this is avery enjoyable novel.
now for the record i'm not a huge fan of cats but first found out about this wonderful story through the animated motion picture that only an american can find on youtube so this story isn't very well known except by people who are undieingly curious and are also looking for a good read about cats that just could not pick up the warriors series. the book arrived in perfect conditon with out a single rip in the pages acctually started reading it. just a note this book is very wordy and also has the acsanal swear from time to time but all in all i very much recomend it.
That book is pretty dark. I wish the comic version would come on this website.
Absolutely amazing book. The words may trip up your tongue in the beginning but I simply could not put this book down. Not recommended for kids since it gets sexual and gory. But the mystery is completely enthralling.
Loved all the cat lore and characters! Also the spooky locales! Sometimes the cat characters were a little too human, especially Francis and Pascal.
This book is really good. Some may have difficulties with the translations (originally in German) but if you can ignore that you will find a good read. Also there is an animated adaptation if you are interested.
