Devil Creek Crossfire When the brothers head into the small cowtown of Crossville, close by Devil Creek, all they want is to stock up on supplies and rest their weary horses. Instead, they find themselves in the middle of a bloody range war that's literally split the town down the middle. The warring factions have set up camp on either side of Main Street, and the newcomers ride in on a deserted strip of no man's land where anything-and nothing good-is liable to happen.

Young Matt Bodine and Sam Two Wolves became blood brothers on the day the rancher's son saved the halfbreed's life, forging a bond no one could ever break. As years passed, a legend grew of the breed and the white man who rode together-and who could jerk killing iron with the best of them.

Blood Bond 5 - Devil Creek Crossfire. William W. Anything by William W. Johnstone is rated a 5 in my book. He puts you there in the wild west where men were men who didn't rely on others to do their business for them ("they stomped their own snakes"). Blood Bond 4 - Gunsmoke and Gold. Blood Bond 3 - Gunsight Crossing. The blood brother series, like the rest of Johnstone's series really captures the flavor of the times.

William W. Van looked up and smiled. He’s gonna be all right, Matt. The bullet ricocheted off a rock and hit Sam in the side. He’s got some busted ribs, but he ain’t shot. Before Matt could respond, a volley. of shots split the night. That’s number three, George the bartender’s voice came through clear. God, another man spoke. We all must have hit him. He’s shot to pieces. I’m afraid I’m going to be incapacitated for a time, Sam pushed the words through clenched teeth. I knew when I struck that match I was making a terrible mistake. Over the years reading Mr. Johnstone's books, I never quite took this sort of story as seriously as I did his westerns. Everything is absolute in them, the Liberals are self-interested morons who don't see what's happening in front of them and the conservatives are completely good with the best for the country in mind. It doesn't work that way in real life. In my sixty-two years, a registered Republican for all my adult life, I've found that neither side is as ridiculous as they are made to seem or as good as they believe they are. There are self-servers everywhere.

I do agree that political correctness is carried to an absurd degree in the real world today.

There's a good story here and I enjoyed as the satire I believe it was meant to be.

The book starts with a wrinkle, the street the brothers rode down when they town was a mirror. The stores and saloons on the left side of the street were exactly the same as the ones on the right side of the street. The book goes on from there.

Such an excellent story. Again, hard to put down. I could not wait for the story to unfold. This book also shows the difference between Muslims as a peaceful religion, and Muslims in the extreme nature whereas they believe it is their job and their existence to turn the whole world to their faith,or die. Sometimes I believe Mr Johnstone could see the future when he wrote his books. An excellent story teller, he has opened my mind as I read his books.

William Johnstone never seemed to be worried about being PC, he told stories and damn good ones. This is a story that starts out a little slow but picks up and before you know it, you're hooked. Good story line, well developed characters, and an exciting finish. Great read, worth the time and money.

I haven't read a book by Johnstone that I didn't like. This was no exception. Everything was as advertised and on time delivery.

If you want to learn history in a exciting way, this is the book for you. The characters are not real, but the settings are.
Another great story with Matt and Sam. Your right there with them every step of the way. You feel their emotions as they work hard to stop the outlaws.
