NARRATOR: The narrator Amy Rubinate has a little girl’s voice. It did not fit the adult teacher (Lily) who was the main point of view. The narrator would be better reading a children’s book or a little girl’s point of view. this was my first book by susan wiggs, i read every night and didn't have a book so went to the community room of my apt. where there are shelves of books and i thought i'd read them all but i found this one and i really enjoyed it. i will probably look for more by her next time i hit. the library.

Booklist on Table for Five. Wiggs excels at portraying the delicate dynamics among lovers, friends and family members, and her keen awareness of sensory detail ensures that the scents and sounds of Rosa’s kitchen are just as palpable as heady attraction between the protagonists. Wiggs’s characterizations are strong, jumping off the page with a winning blend of realism and warmth. A richly textured stor. his book will polish Wiggs’s already glowing reputation.

Lily Robinson and Sean McGuire have nothing in common. She guards her independent lifestyle with a ferocity that hides a fear of love and the pain it can bring. He’s always been a rolling stone, making his own way. But with the sudden deaths of a couple close to them both, the two become joined in grief and a knowledge that they must step up and care for the three orphaned children. I think this is one of Susan Wiggs' best books. I am a fan of her earlier contemporaries and this is one of the best of that list. While Wiggs' recent works have been slow and boring, this one is not like that. The story of grief and recovery and the slow development of attraction between H/h was so well done. The family interactions ring true, both before the event that changed everything and afterwards. I've read this book a number of times and still it stays on my keeper shelf. I loved "The Ocean Between Us" but this is number 2 on my list of favorite books by this author. Hightly recommend

Very seldom do I rate a book a 5 star! However, this is definitely an exception. Susan Wigg's really outdid herself on this fantastic book about the many dimensions of life we sometimes find ourselves in. At the beginning, we are introduced to Lily who is afraid to "let loose and live" her life. She is afraid to really love and experience the sometimes "pain" involved in real life situations. Instead, she has lived her life in a cocoon. All that changes with the death of her best friend and her best friend's ex-husband. Suddenly, her life is turned upside down as she tries to deal with her own painful loss, as well as the pain of the three orphaned children who are suddenly depending on her. Throw in the extra element, Sean, the handsome uncle to the children, and the reader becomes caught up in the struggle of these people who are trying to do what is best for the children. The reader will feel a multitude of emotions during the book and will cheer on the romance that begins to slowly develop between Lily and Sean. This book is a "must read"!

This novel is beautifully written. It was sad but I cried every tear with the well developed characters who lived out the story lines. I fell in love with Sean along with Lily. I agonized along with Cameron's difficulties of being a teenager who has lost his parents. I celebrated with Sean as he realized his dream of becoming a PGA golfer. It was hard not to become a part of this fractured but beautifully designed family. This book was written for anyone who has a heart#

This is one of my favorite of Susan Wiggs' books. Well, most of hers are favorites, but this one especially. Already have it in print, just wanted it on Kindle as well.

I agree with everyone's reviews about this being such a wonderful story that I was sad to see it end. This story had me hooked and totally involved with the characters from the very beginning. This is only the 3rd book of Susan Wiggs that I have read but I have been pleased with all 3. This one however, will probably will always be my absolute favorite!
I would love to see a sequel to this one. It would be so much fun to see if their table becomes a " table for six" (or even more). And how Sean & Cameron do in upcoming golfing tournaments.

SusanWiggs has always been one of my favorites because she keeps the characters believable and I begin to feel like they are old friends I’ve known for years. While the sex doesn’t necessarily sizzle, the reader certainly gets the sexual tension.

Her plots are not action-filled but more like things that happen in real life that most readers can relate to. I can’t relate to witches, vampires or werewolfs which have become so popular of late, but with Table for Five I feel like it’s about people I’ve known and care about. I get invested in Wiggs’ s characters and want them to have a HEA.

Another great story from Susan Wiggs. It's an emotional tale of life and death and the power of enduring love! She makes the characters come to life in such a way that it is hard to tell the goodbye.
Enjoyable book. Good family love story.
