This series gave a positive look at Witches and others. A good look at the Mountain Women that helped us grow as a nation in their medicinal herbs and brews.

Only 7 left in stock (more on the way). This series gave a positive look at Witches and others. This story was both a darn good exciting mystery and a loving balance to end the series. I hope Ms. Damsgaard realizes how much these stories will be missed.

Small-town librarian and psychic Ophelia Jensen hails from a long line of wise and wonderfully gifted women. There's her grandmother, Abby, a talented witch, and her great-aunt Mary, who's about to celebrate her 100th birthday. But as Ophelia learns, when she and Abby travel to North Carolina for the centennial celebration, their family secrets aren't just magickal-they're murderous. Someone in the sweet Southern town wants Abby dead.

I've finished the Ophelia & Abby paranormal cozy mystery series, and book number seven, The Seventh Witch, by Shirley Damsgaard is definitely the best one. Given its focus on North Carolina, how witchcraft came to their family, and their extensive genealogy, it was bound to be a wonderful. Combining the best aspects of mystery and fantasy-a sort-of Miss Marple with magic-Damsgaard’s The Seventh Witch is a whodunit with a difference; a delightful diversion for anyone who loves the supernatural charm of Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse novels or Kim Harrison’s bestselling excursions to The Hollows.

“A Golden Broomstick to [these] most unusual sleuths, a septuagenarian witch and her psychic granddaughter.”—Carolyn Hart

The Seventh Witch is the seventh installment in Shirley Damsgaard’s Agatha Award-nominated Ophelia and Abby series featuring a small-town librarian with paranormal abilities and her endearingly unapologetic witch grandmother. Combining the best aspects of mystery and fantasy—a sort-of Miss Marple with magic—Damsgaard’s The Seventh Witch is a whodunit with a difference; a delightful diversion for anyone who loves the supernatural charm of Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse novels or Kim Harrison’s bestselling excursions to The Hollows.

I write this review with a sense of sadness. Why? Because this novel is the final episode in a mystery series that I have grown to love. I have become friends with Addy and Ophelia and Tink. We have grown with Ophelia as she learned to accept her psychic gifts rather than run from them. During that journey, we the readers were ran through woods, arsons, murders, kidnappings, and more.

We met some spectacular persons along the trip. This series gave a positive look at Witches and others. A good look at the Mountain Women that helped us grow as a nation in their medicinal herbs and brews.

This story was both a darn good exciting mystery and a loving balance to end the series. I hope Ms. Damsgaard realizes how much these stories will be missed.

This appears to be the last in the series so I'm a little sad to see it end. It's been enjoyable to see how the characters have developed and the lessons they've learned about working together. This story takes place where Abby grew up and involves Ophelia uncovering some dark secrets from the past and also has her undercover law enforcement friend from earlier books.

Really liked this one, all the family together. Ophelia goes back to the mountains for Aunt Mary's 100's birthday. She gets involved in the family feud and sets out to straighten out the mess and cleanse the seven sisters which had been in her family for years. They are being polluted by another family and the spirits are not happy. Ethan is around and some lively discussion erupts as well as some facts about his family. I would love to see a book about Ophelia meeting his Mom. I swear he has some magic too. Love the ending I hope it is not the last in the series.

I enjoyed this book. I understand the author does not intend to pursue this series at least for a while and I thought this was a good closer. There was a lot of history and explanation of the psychic power that runs through the family lineage with a wonderful description to how that use the energy on a daily basis. I think this book works well as a stand alone mystery since I have read only one of the previous novels. Good introduction to folk magic tradition.

I have read all the books in this series. This is one of the best. I enjoyed Abby and Ophelia returning to their roots. Ophelia has grown to embrace her powers which was Abby's wish from the beginning of the series. I also enjoyed the furthering of the relationship between Abby and Ethan. I have read that Shirley is going to "shelf" this series for a time. I hope; however, it isn't permanent. I would love to see the growth and maturing of Tink, Abby's continued use of her powers, and the growth of her relationship with Ethan.

Great book, Shirley. I loved it.
Wat!?
Damsgard has outdone herself this time. The Seventh Witch was such a pleasure to read and spend time again with Abby, Ophelia, Tink, Aunt Dot, Great Aunt Mary and scads of other great characters brought to life in this book. I have marked pages and will write down all the ancient wisdom that Shirley Damsgard has passed on in this book. She reveals wonderful lore and secrets in each book she writes. These little pieces of witchy knowledge are treasures. This is one of those books that makes a reader sad when they read the last page, wishing it would go on, better yet that they could know these charming ladies and
perhaps live next door?
Shirley, get busy girl on the next one, your avid fans are waiting. Kudos!

I just love the Ophelia & Abby series! Have read them all and even with seven books in the series, the author is keeping it fresh and interesting! These books are VERY tame, but still so enjoyable! Sometimes I think the main character is a bit more naive than is believable but it works and I for one can't wait to see what's going to happen next! Will Ophelia and Ethan FINALLY end up together????? Great summer/beach read!
This has to be my favorite book of the series so far because it was the least predictable to me and I felt the most emotional. I kept reading the books because Shirley's characters are so loveable and I can't help but root for them. I cannot wait for Book #8! I hope she's not done with the series because I need to know what happens with... SPOILER ALERT......

Ophelia and Ethan! C'mon, can't leave me hanging like this Shirley. I was really hoping she'd hook up with Henry but that's okay. Ethan sounds just as hot. haha
