In the arid canyonlands of Mexico the race is on for the ultimate end-of-the-world codex-the final 1000-year-old prophesy of the god-king, Quetzalcoatl, who ruled Mexico 1000 years ago. Rita Critchlow and Cooper Jones hunt for that sacred codex in those scorching desert canyons, while 500 years ago, Pacal, a young slave-scholar, sets out on the same deadly quest.

Their own time mirrors that of Quetzacoatl’s and the Aztec’s in shocking detail. I loved Gary's stories, but Robert Gleason and Junius Podrug have sullied his good name with this book. Apr 23, 2011 Nyx Cole rated it really liked it.

Author: Gary Jennings, Robert Gleason & Julius Podrug. Stand alone or series: Book 3 in the Aztec series, but can theoretically be read as a stand alone novel. A thousand years later scientists discover the End-Time Codex. Genre: Speculative Fiction, Thriller, Historical-Fantasy. Publisher: Tor/Forge Publication Date: June 2009 Hardcover: 384 pages. Why did I read this book: I have been fascinated by the Maya ever since I met these early astronomers in the seventh grade. They had the concept of zero. While struggling to decipher it, they realize their own age mirrors Tula’s. Can they crack the 2012 code and save their world from Tula’s deadly fate?

Apocalypse 2012: A Novel – Ebook written by Gary Jennings, Robert Gleason, Junius Podrug. Read this book using Google Play Books app on your PC, android, iOS devices. Gifted in math and astronomy, Coyotl rises to king's counselor in Tula, a golden city of milk and honey ruled by the brilliant god-king, Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent of lore. He passed away in 1999, leaving behind a rich legacy of historical fiction and ideas for new novels.

In the arid canyonlands of Mexico the race is on for the ultimate end-of-the-world codex—the final 1000-year-old prophesy of the god-king, Quetzalcoatl, who ruled Mexico 1000 years ago. Rita Critchlow and Cooper Jones hunt for that sacred codex in those scorching desert canyons, while 500 years ago, Pacal, a young slave-scholar, sets out on the same deadly quest. He too must find those apocalyptic writings, knowing that his era—the Age of the Aztecs—may well come to an end if he does not find them.

For Pacal, the End-Time is at hand. Montezuma has built a vast empire based in what will one day be Mexico City. Now, however, he faces war, disastrous drought, death-cult priests, who rip the hearts out of thousands of people atop their pyramids...and the arrival of red-bearded horse-borne conquistador, bearing preternaturally powerful weapons and catastrophic plagues, sowing pandemic death wherever he goes.

America’s leaders are also staring into an apocalyptic abyss. Their own time mirrors that of Quetzacoatl’s and the Aztec’s in shocking detail. Convinced that Quetzalcoatl’s codex holds the key to humanity’s survival—that he is warning them of a global, planet-killing threat—the two women battle broiling desert canyons and drug-cartel warlords to track it down and decipher it.

Moreover, earlier glimpses of his prophesy foreshadow uncanny similarities to those of John’s Book of Revelation. Are Quetzalcoatl’s and Revelation’s prophesies one and the same? Can they crack the 2012 code and save their world from their deadly fate? The countdown is on.

Gary Jennings would roll over in his grave if he knew that his name was on the cover of "The 2012 Codex Aztec." The book was written by two authors and neither of them read the other one's pages.

Sentences are as short as six words, with half page chapters. (Guess the author who wrote that part of the book was paid by number of pages or chapters.)

Some of the sentences are laced with profanity, that doesn't make any sense in the context of the character uttering the words.

The back cover is covered with glowing praise for the book. But if the reader looks closely, these recommendations are by other virtually unknown authors who are plugging their own books.

The last few chapters have some detail about the relationship of the Mayan prophesy to the Book of Revelations in the Bible. But other than those few pages, the book is a complete waste of time.

Not as good as the first book in the series. Also, I think this is an unfinished trilogy
Jockahougu
This an ancient pre-Azteca that relates the resentment against the Aztecs by the other tribes, as the chapters advances, it becomes a page turning experience, fast and recommended reading

This novel has nothing to do with Jennings past books.
Too much science-fiction stuff, guns, bandits, governments, dreaming, apocalypse, Mayans

The book was in very very good condition and I give it 4 stars. The book is very good by the way.
This book is very informative and entertaining at the same time... A GREAT Read!!!
It's also very scary, when one looks at the present state of the world and realizes that
things will get much worse in the very near future...
