This unique book provides the source materials for a complete biographical dictionary of Athenians in antiquity. It contains an entry for every identifiable resident of ancient Athens from the earliest times to the fifth century AD. Based on evidence from thousands of inscriptions otherwise not readily available, including a treasure trove of inscriptions uncovered since the turn of the century, this volume brings up to date the (now) antiquated forms of references which render Kirchner's 1903 Prosopographia Attica so hard to use, and also includes more recent evidence from the Roman period.
