This exhaustive collection of Sidney's Lanier's poems and poem outlines provides an extensive portrait of the poet at his best: multifaceted, ambitious, creative, and always grounded. Lanier's poetry is typified by its strong nature imagery and its elevated, at times ceremonial, form and verbiage. He had a remarkable propensity for the novel, however, and his complete works touch on political subjects, absurdity, humor, and vernacular studies, all in a variety of poetic forms and styles.
