It is the late 1960s in Hollywood and the Big One has just struck - more than eight points on the Richter Scale. This novel is an account of how fear unravels people's emotions, how terror can be liberating and how people, even those in Hollywood, manage to survive.

This book is horrible. The writing is intentionally weird, and scarcely into the 4th page of text it turns pornographic. And not in a good way. The book description really should include that warning. Having survived a real earthquake that occurred the year before this book was first published, and hoping to find an interesting take on what would have happened in that quake had been more destructive than it was, I took a chance. Big mistake. If you like poorly written, rather pretentious pornography, you might like this. If you're looking for insights into how people might react during a real disaster, this is the most negative, nihilistic take on the aftermath. I've been there, and it was nothing like this.
