Pygmy Goats : Management and Veterinary Care. com User, July 23, 2006. This book helped me learn everything I needed to know about my new Pygmy Goats. I've learned how to care for them properly and what kinds of things they love to do. I took the author's advice and built them some things to climb on. I have never seen them happier.

I bought my first pygmy goats about a year ago, 2 males and 2 females. When I asked the breeder that I bought them from what reading material she suggested she insisted that I buy this book.

I read it all the way through when I first bought my goats and still turn to it today for quick information on how to handle the common situations and care that arise with having pygmy goats. It is very informative and a must have for owners or soon to be owners of pygmy goats.

This book and "The New Goat Handbook" are the only book's that I own and haven't run into anything that hasn't been covered in one or the other for having pygmy and nubian goats.

The reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5:

Well both the breeder and I disagreed with how much grain they tell you to give your kid's. They say to give each kid 1 cup in the moring and one at night. Maybe if you had very poor feed or no pasture for them to feed on and they needed more nurishmnet.

But if they are in a pasture eating grass and other plants your going to make your goat sick. I give my adult pygmys and nubian 1 cup each a day and put it in the same feeder dish.

Note: You might want to get into the habit of feeding them at night and every other day so they don't always expect it the exact same time everyday. Or at least mix it up a bit.

If you get into the habit of feeding them every morning at the same time everyday then one day for some reason or another you can't feed them that morning or can't keep that schedule anymore they will cry for it until you can get out to feed them. Or if your away and couldn't feed them that day they may even cry all day. And of course in severe cases your nieghbors may even disown you. :)

Excellent resource. I started raising pygmy goats for the first time last December. Since I am a beginner, I tried to find breed-specific information, which is actually more challenging than I anticipated. If you have pygmy goats, this is by far the best resource that is out there, besides having an actual veterinarian at your side. The book is easy to read and understand and covers basic care to complex illnesses and their treatments. I found this book through the National Pygmy Goat Association's website. Highly recommended!

This book is filled with alot of useful information and I enjoy it and recommend it (although I am new to goats and some of the words in the book I had to look up for explanation). The only problem is that the editor or spellchecker should be fired. The book is filled with misspelled words, double words and use of the wrong word. Now I am no english major by any means but this is a published book and should be edited better. This is a book not a txt msg.

This was my first Pygmy goat book other then the ( NPGA Basic Owners Manual; ), As I've had standard sized goats but I was looking for info specifically for pygmy care. Trying to find how they differ. To Basic for me. It's more a Maintenance book. No problem, symptom, treatment , sections like you find in actual Veterinary care books. I have an extensive collection of Horse Veterinary books, in comparison this would have been the book I bought as a first time , know nothing , never owned a horse before, not even sure if they have 4 legs read. I also would have liked actual real life pictures of things she was trying to show instead of amateurish cartoon drawings. I got more out of Storey's Guide to Raising Dairy Goats by Jerry Belanger.

I downloaded the ebook version to my kindle. There are no Chapter marks or page numbers.. So you have to manually thumb through page by page and try to find the chapters you want. This is Horrible. Every time I go to the table of contents I must start at the beginning and thumb back through page. by . Page.. LAZY ebook publisher. LAZY.

I love this book! Super helpful and everything is pretty much up to date if your a newbie!
I like this book for it's general information. It's all a
new owner would need. It does disagree with the
dosage of CDT from the National Pygmy Club. You
could call your vet to be sure.
