Karl Kofoed's Galactic Geographic Annual 3003 definitely falls into the latter category

Karl Kofoed's Galactic Geographic Annual 3003 definitely falls into the latter category. Kofoed has based his book on the magazine National Geographic and has projected it one thousand years into the future. It provides a look at Kofoed's artwork as well as the personality of the artist who would collect his work in this format.

Galactic Geographic Annual 3003 is a collection of reprints of these pieces. It is Kofoed's wonderfully fertile imagination captured between the soft covers of a trade paperback that runs the gamut between interesting and fascinating, although upon first perusal one might be fooled into thinking that this unusually realistic fantasy art book features pictures and descriptions of several bona fide scientific discoveries

Karl's book Galactic Geographic takes you on a daring voyage into uncharted realms never before imagined. You really believe that this is a book from the future, and not just from the content (no spoilers here)!

Karl's book Galactic Geographic takes you on a daring voyage into uncharted realms never before imagined. You really believe that this is a book from the future, and not just from the content (no spoilers here)! This is a book that will appear on my coffee table and all my friends will get a copy - because these are NOT the Star Trekian worlds - They are Kofoed's. For those that love real science fiction, I recommend this book.

The Editors of Galactic Geographic proudly present this new annual, a handsome collectors’ volume containing the magazine’s most exciting articles and artwork, some depicting our species’ advance through the Galaxy alongside our companions in the Galactic Federation. These extended features—on cosmic mysteries and alien creatures—are gorgeously illustrated by a master hand.

This is a stunningly beautiful and mind-expanding foray into speculation about life on other worlds, packaged as a remarkable artifact. Imagine having your friends drop by and notice this interesting book on your table, that turns out to be a coffee-table book from the future! An absolute treat!

The Galactic Geographic series originally ran in Heavy Metal magazine years ago, and is currently running there again. It was created by my favorite off-world artist, Karl Kofoed, who paints images of alien worlds so dynamic and tactile that you can only assume they were painted on location!

Don't pass this one up!

It is easy to get depressed with the majority of science fiction; between zombies and another 'kill the awful aliens' war, here is Karl providiing a look at a more hopeful scene. This book isn't new, but is is resilient in that it still provokes wonder and imagination. The illustrations are very well done and the some of the scenes make me want to go for a visit.

If you have the time it demands it is good, very good.
