The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss (. ISBN 0-679-43448-8) is a collection of visual art created by Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. It was published in 1995, after Geisel's death, by Random House of New York. The bulk of this collection consists of painting and drawing. It does, however, include photographs of many sculptures created by Geisel. Both forms of art display the characteristic style and form that can be seen in all of his children's books.

Geisel published his first children's book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, in 1937, after 27 publishers rejected it. I sort of wrongly assumed that this would be more like a coffee table book based on the price. It's very cool but I'm a little disappointed in the amount of work presented based on that steep of a tag. If you looking for a display piece, it would be wise to look elsewhere. Colors and presentation are definitely not as vivid and bold as one would think based on the subject matter and artist. Definitely some cool pieces, but there are probably better and larger Seuss books out there that would serve a display purpose much more than this does.

Fun book - Dr. Seuss's artwork is a feast for the adult eyes and imagination, just like his storybooks for children! If you like art and coffee table books, this is well worth the price.

If, like me, you grew up with Dr. Seuss books and marveled at the sheer inventiveness of his illustrations, you need to get this book!!! The themes are much more serious, dealing with politics and more adult issues, and still whimsical in the Dr. Seuss way. But with a decidedly darker bent-----which is exactly why I Love this Book! A very different and private side of the man we thought we knew. A must have for Dr. Seuss art lovers!

I rate this so high because all three of the major books are great and inspiring to get rid of the the box and try for a flour sifter or a garbage can or why not a palm tree. The cats are wonderful and the is a great book. I want the cat with the coat. I want the joy of uncanned Salmon. Color is awe inspiring and the imagination and wit I am in awwww of..
