In Mozart's later works the wind instruments are equal to the stringed instruments, and this is also the case in this concerto.

The Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major (K. 488) is a musical composition for piano and orchestra written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It was finished, according to Mozart's own catalogue, on March 2, 1786, around the time of the premiere of his opera, The Marriage of Figaro. It was one of three subscription concerts given that spring and was probably played by Mozart himself at one of these. In Mozart's later works the wind instruments are equal to the stringed instruments, and this is also the case in this concerto. It has three movements: 1. Allegro in A major and common time.

(Music Minus One). Performed by Martin Stambalov, piano Accompaniment: Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra Conductor: Nayden Todorov A lovely, popular concerto full of melody and gorgeous orchestration, especially notable for its beautiful use of woodwinds to complement the piano. Really one of Mozart's absolute finest achievements, it has been eternally popular since its publication and remains on the top lists of many pianists. Requires some tricky fingering in the last movement, so crack those knuckles and kick yourself into gear with Maestro Nayden Todorov and the Plovdiv Philharmonic as your backup. Includes an authoritative printed music score and a complete reference recording in digital stereo, with soloist; then a second version in digital stereo of the orchestral accompaniment, minus the soloist. The audio is accessed online using the unique code inside each book and can be streamed or downloaded. The audio files include PLAYBACK+, a multi-functional audio player that allows you to slow down audio without changing pitch, set loop points, change keys, and pan left or right.

I've seen people whine about timing etc, but when are you going to get an entire symphony orchestra to accompany you? Here is the experience of a lifetime and all you have to do is what the soloist does on the complete track (good luck with that!).

It's much more difficult to match others playing (particularly a whole orchestra) than with your own "rubato". This production helps you "get real" with music and play with others. If you've got a iPad or iPhone you can even perform your production with the orchestra and enjoy (or criticize) the performance.

Get the entire series and appreciate the depth of Artur Rubenstein and Sviatoslav Richter who could play all of these pieces from memory at their performance peak. Try the slow performance for practice and when you're up to speed, match the full speed performance.

As a veteran classical and self instructed rock/folk performer here is a chance to use both learning methods to improve your skill. Classical performers learn by rigourous training, most rock/folk performers learn by listening and performing.

You won't be disappointed with this (and others in this series) if you are a true musician (and not a whining critic).

Very hard to follow because there is a lot of unaccompanied piano, which means empty bars in the CD

It is good enough for piano player practice at home. This book is a good help for piano player who is looking for Concerto.

It's wonderful material. I am very satisfied.

This is a useful practice tool when a second piano/pianist is not available. The many individual rehearsal tracks are helpful for practicing specific sections without having to restart an entire movement. It is nice to have the sounds of a real orchestra as accompaniment.
