But the 201 Swedish Verbs book is far from perfect. Why? Oh, let me count the ways! 1. Swedish verbs stay the same regardless of which subject pronoun you use, whether it is jag, du, han, hon, vi, ni or de, the verb form stays the same. Yet, all the forms with their applicable pronouns are listed on every page. 2. Just like in English, some Swedish verbs are irregular. It claims to include all the verbs which occur in the three thousand words in Swedish. Well, that might have been the case in 1975, but really, who in this day and age uses the word to curtsy (niga)?

Simple and straighforward (much like Swedish verbs). Could use an index. I am a little puzzled by some of the verb choices. For example they don't include att handla but they do include att niga.

I really like this book. It covers everything you should know about Swedish verbs. My only downpoint about this book is I find it sometimes difficult to find a verb I am looking for. Overall, it is a very good book. I recommend it.

This is a solid book that is exactly what it says it is. Is the selection of verbs as good as a 500 odd verb book? No, but it never claimed to be. It is handy and has been helpful in my limited studies so far. The one down side is the book almost seems a little silly the way it presents the verbs: it spells them out in all the cases for number and gender. For other languages this is a given, but for Swedish it just seems silly. I know it is just presenting things in parallel with the other books of its kind, but it still struck me as odd. Odd/silly or not, it has been handy!

It is an older book but very good learning book. If you are learning Swedish this a good starter book on verbs.

I'm trying to learn Swedish, having already learned Danish several years ago. It turns out there are a lot more differences than I expected, particularly for verbs. This little book is a very handy resource. The discussion at the beginning, both about Swedish verbs and about the present state of Swedish in general, is enormously helpful, and includes a lot of information I wasn't able to find elsewhere, including the standard grammars.

201 verbs doesn't get you very far. Other languages get 501 verbs, why does Swedish get fewer?

Gift for a student.
I've always found these books helpful. I have the 501s for both German and Russian. It's interesting that the Swedes have been able to simplify their language enough to only have 201.
