The workshop attempted to assess this regime’s effectiveness in a context . The idea of a world fund to fight deforestation has also been mentioned. Only the prospect on an international tax for this fund could solve the problem.

Cassava ( Manihot esculenta Crantz) is one of the oldest root and tuber crops, used by humans to produce food, feed and beverages  . In recent years, some of the problems in the production of cassava have been increasing infection with cassava mosaic disease (CMD), cassava brown streak disease (CBSD) and cassava bacterial blight (CBB).

Changes in the nutrient composition of three cassava products, Garri, Lafun and Fufu, as affected by preparation methods, were studied. Storage of cassava roots led to a reduction in cyanide content of gari and fufu. Proximate analysis was carried out on the raw sample and sample of the cooked foods for moisture content crude protein, energy, sugar, iron, calcium and phosphorus. There was a slight and variable decrease in protein content of the products with Garri having the lowest amount of protein. It also reduced the percentage yield of gari and fufu by 49·9 and 60·3, respectively.

Almost 70 percent of world cassava production are concentrated in five countries, namely Nigeria, Brazil, Thailand .

Almost 70 percent of world cassava production are concentrated in five countries, namely Nigeria, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia and the Congo Democratic Republic. World cassava production increased from 1984 to 1994 at a rate of . percent a year, the same as in the previous decade (table 1), reaching 164 million tonnes in 1997 or 60 million tonnes more than in 1973–75. The lack of a more dynamic growth in cassava utilization as feed is often attributed to the relatively high instability of supplies and prices, which makes cassava a less reliable source than grains to the feed industry. Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL) is a critical school of international legal scholarship and an intellectual and political movement. It is a "broad dialectic opposition to international law", which perceives international law as facilitating the continuing exploitation of the Third World through subordination to the West.

Cassava is the third-largest source of food carbohydrates in the tropics, after rice and maize. Cassava is a major staple food in the developing world, providing a basic diet for over half a billion people. It is one of the most drought-tolerant crops, capable of growing on marginal soils. Like other roots and tubers, both bitter and sweet varieties of cassava contain antinutritional factors and toxins, with the bitter varieties containing much larger amounts. It must be properly prepared before consumption, as improper preparation of cassava can leave enough residual cyanide to cause acute cyanide intoxication, goiters, and even ataxia, partial paralysis, or death.
