delivers zen zingers with Borscht Belt timing. The New York Times Coming at a desperate time for the planet. I am already starting to re-read "Crazy Wisdom" because in my opinion it is one of the most sensible hard hitting takes on the philosophy of Buddhism that I've ever come across. It's certainly unsettling to come to grips with the fact that our place in this world is not on top of the evolutionary heap with a license to take what we want.

by. Nisker, Wes. Publication date. Philosophy, Wisdom, Paradox.

The Essential Crazy Wisdom book. Nisker weaves this What is crazy wisdom you ask? According to Nisker, it is a wisdom that is unidentifiable. Crazy wisdom is a wisdom that refuses to be institutionalized. Crazy wisdom is the fuzzy line between knowing and not knowing. In The Essential Crazy Wisdom, the reader takes a journey to clarify their certainty on the perception of knowing exactly how things are. Nisker clearly jolts you into thinking and questioning what exactly is the great wisdom. The great knowledge of living.

A mixture of facts and philosophy. Jean-Paul Sartre, William Blake, lao Tzu, Groucho Marx, Albert Einstein - hold forth on poetry religion, quantum physics.

THE ESSENTIAL CRAZY WISDOM delivers the most significant, most lunatic, and most compelling insights of the ages. Scoop Nisker patches together the unorthodox teachings that have bubbled up through the words of such crazy visionaries as Rumi, Gautama the Buddha, Mark Twain, Lao Tzu, Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, Allen Ginsberg, and Lily Tomlin.

His most recent book is entitled Crazy Wisdom Saves the World Again! (Stonebridge Press).

This book is one of the wittiest, yet still serious books for the spiritual pilgrim. It operates on at least two levels. First, the humor is nonstop. Wes Nisker is a master of one liners and small puns. Second, if one reads with a bit more intentionality and stops to make connections with the figures and wisdom traditions represented here, there is some sacred depth to be plumbed as well: laughter IS theology in some circumstances. I highly recommend the book. I first stumbled across this gem many moons ago in its original incarnation. This latest version still meets a high standard.
Okay,I took that title from Gary Snyder's blurb on the back cover, but its apt.The author also refers to it as a kind of survival guide for our troubled times. In it, he blends quotes by everyone from The Buddha to Groucho Marx, Lily Tomlin to Gandhi,Kafka to William Burroughs and William Blake, "crazy" visionaries with wise and humorous perspective and ties them together in a fun and insightful way. This is a new edition of his original Crazy Wisdom which at the time I purchased several copies of and handed out to friends.Therapeutic fun
Well written, informative and inspiring. I have read other books by Wes Nisker. This one ties things together. I highly recommend it for anyone who is seriously looking for the meaning of life. There are some good suprises here.
With gentle humor Wes Niskar shares important lessons he's learned on the path. I recommend this book to anyone who has a practice
Great collection of quotes and summaries of innovative thinkers, ancient and contemporary. Sublime use of four quintessential "Fools". Inspiring yet most importantly, embossed with humor on every page.
I have read this book myself so I knew it was an excellent gift for my sister. I would strongly recommend this book.
A great and easy to read book on Taoist thought.
Very good for those wanting to explore alternative philosophies to the traditional western ideals. Great use of a wide variety of sources from American thinkers to Buddhist monks to Islamic authors
