The Author: Quentin Taylor is Professor of History and Political Science at Rogers State University. Political speculation in the West is as old as the Western tradition itself. Its origins may be traced as far back as Homer, but its foundations were laid by Plato and Aristotle. While many of the questions asked by political thinkers have remained the same -what is justice? - the answers have varied considerably over the last 2,400 years.

The book presupposes no previous knowledge of political philosophy. It clearly explained all of the concepts of all the classical thinkers such as Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, St. Augustine and Aquaintas, as well as some of the more modern thinkers like Hobbes, Locke, and Grotius. It will therefore be a valuable introductory book for students of philosophy, politics, and international relations. Very informative, and it put hard to understand readings in lay terms.
