To do justice to the Libby Sarjeant series, you have to start at the beginning with the first book "Murder in Steeple Martin" and continue in chronological order. Lesley Cookman is astute in drawing the reader into Libby Sarjeants life, her friends become your friends and together she and her partner Fran lead you on a journey of mystery and intrigue in the England that I remember and love, To single out just one of the books in the series would be an injustice. I have read all eleven of them and am eagerly waiting for Ms. Cookman's next "Libby" book. Jill Carom

I like reading the series but the fact that one of the two heroines has mysterious visions and insights turns them from pleasant mysteries into fantasy science-fiction. Too bad. I see little reason for the author to rely on this deus ex machina but, I suppose, if the books are selling, my feelings are irrelevant. Aside from this personal criticism, the book is decent, light reading, although overlong and contains unnecessary confusion due to too many meetings and conversations between the two heroines and between each, and both them, with others. Certain essential events involving a peripheral character, necessary to the ultimate conclusion, do seem way beyond reality as well.
At any rate, I think that followers of the series will want to read this one; others may find it less successful storytelling than some of the others, if they want to see if the series is worthwhile digging into.

Copied from my review of the first book in the series "Murder at Steeple Martin" - but I read all 10 books in a row, so in my head they're more like one long story (yeah, I like to watch TV show marathons too).

If you're a fan of cozy mysteries, this is a great series to pick up - especially on their current sale price! I read the entire series straight through, and for the most part really enjoyed it. I'm a fan of English murder mysteries (recently discovered "Midsomer Mysteries" on TV and have been in heaven), and this is a great contribution to the genre.

The characters were relatable, dimensioned, and the heroines try their best to avoid Nancy Drew (or Miss Marple on that side of the pond) syndrome - their insistence that people should go talk to the police because they'll get there first anyway. Very refreshing :)

I hope there are more books coming!

Each book in this series makes me love it more. The characters are great. Love keeping up with their deductions. I've even been able to figure out who the "culprit" was in the last two books. Looking forward to the next one in the series.

I enjoy reading how Libby and Fran try to figure out the who-dun-it, is it the guy on the floor below, how about the mysterious man that has been seen by Libby's son-in-law. I like all the characters. Lesley Cookman has made me feel as if I am part of the group.

I have read all the Libby Sarjeant books on Amazon, this is the second in the series, they are easy reading, glass of wine by the fire in winter books.
In the later books the re-cap on previous books to explain to the new reader can be a bit tedious, but isn't too over done, and if you don't manage to read in order may be needed. I really enjoy the characters in these books, again maybe a bit larger than life on occasions, but very entertaining. Too much description of the books will give away the plots, but if you like a murder mystery without the gory details, two middle aged " Miss Marples" (which they will deny vigorously)and a very unorthodox policeman, try these books.

Lesley Cookman just gets better and better. Libby Sarjent and her compatriots land in the thick of things and manage to find their way out - with aplomb. I am SO glad I have several more books as these folks have become as comfortable for me as a thick flannel nightgown.
I love this series!! A true page turner and hard to put down!! The characters are all so unique and like able!! You never know "who done it" til the very end!! Please keep these stories coming :)
