Previous reviews need to be updated. Kosteniuk is the current Women's World Champion. She has won the European female Championship, and the Russian female Championship. She is also the 11th woman to be awarded the International Grandmaster title. That said, the book does have some puzzles, must know endgame theory and some annoted games that show her progress in chess. Although optimal teaching methods must be indiviualized, in chess the intensity of training is repetitive in these child prodigies. Somewhere in the book Kosteniuks mentions how she and her sister solved 800 positions in a tactics book. I think the positions and puzzles are useful for teaching and individual training.

Ms. Kosteniuk is a very interesting and complex person. When I read this book, I wasn't sure if she's promoting herself or chess. There're also misleading facts. She didn't become a GM at 14. She became a WGM at 14 which is a big difference. This is the sort of things that make people angry. Overall, it's an interesting book.

Alexandra is ranked #1 in the United States. She is the Kournikova of chess. I like this book very much.
