Harriet Marwood, Governess book.

Harriet Marwood, governess.

By John Glassco (pseudonym Miles Underwood). Featuring stern punishments and ecstatic climaxes alike, the book hits all the right notes, in deceptively smooth, vivid prose. It has, as all romances must, a happy ending. THE ENGLISH GOVERNESS is not only an historic work of erotic fiction, on a par with STORY OF O, TROPIC OF CANCER, MARITAL CONFIDENCES, and THE PEARL, it is excellently written and deliciously sensual, a treat for open-minded adult readers everywhere.

The English Governess. Introduction by Michael Gnarowski. A work he would describe, tongue slyly in cheek, as an aphrodisiac romance.

Great read.

I haven't read an awful lot of the classics of this genre, but I can't imagine a more satisfying, interesting, and er, captivating read than this book. I first "came across it" (haha, ohh boy) as almost a laughingstock-throwaway paperback kept as part of a "something to read" library while at my job. But those who are so inclined will recognize that this is a serious work, and a labor of love, so to speak. The psychological depths of it, the risks, will really resonate. It had the effect on me of building an intense but comfortable level of energy... Of course it's so well written that you read until you're fit for nothing else but sleep -- and that straightaway. Enjoy.

I first read this in my teens. Trembling, with bated breath. Consumed with yearning for my own strict Governess.
I wonder how many boys (and men) like me there are.
There's not another book like it. I searched for years. None.
I'm a professional writer now. Corporate.
I've decided to write a new, modern version. With more characters, incidents, and adventures.
Eschewing stuffy fustian Victorian euphemistic modesty of the original.
Embracing modern graphic Disciplinary realism.
"Dr. Harriet Marwood, Therapist". Perhaps.
