The book takes place in the distant future on the fictional world of Isis. Nine years have passed since the events of The Guardian of Isis. Mark London and Olwen are now dead. The leader of the colony is Roger London, Mark London's son. London seems to be nothing like his father, however

The Isis Pedlar book. Overall, The Isis Pedlar is my least favourite of the Isis trilogy. I didn't feel the same connection to Moira that I did to Olwen in the first book, or Jody in the second.

The Isis Pedlar book. The dystopian aspects of Isis, which were very prominent in book 2 felt muted and less exciting now that so much time has passed. So, I didn't have much of a connection with Moira and David felt one dimensional and boring, so that leaves us with our only really interesting character: Michael Joseph Flynn.

The Isis Pedlar, the third book in Monica Hughes’ Isis trilogy, starts not on Isis as you might expect, but rather in deep space, where Irish conman Mike and his long suffering teenage daughter and partial enabler Moira are in trouble. In this case fairly serious trouble: the hyperdrive on their spaceship has died, again, and Mike’s major response to this is to express faith in his daughter, which is nice, and drink.

This book is a great end to a great series, it's too bad this series is out of print.
Mr Freeman
I read a number of Monica Hughes' books back in 1999 because she is the favorite author of a friend. Though some were harder to find, I enjoyed all I could lay my hands on.
