Chocolate Fudge Mystery (9780142402115) by David A. The Cam Jansen books are perfect for young readers who are making the transition to chapter books, and Cam is a spunky young heroine whom readers have loved for over two decades. Author Bio. ▼▲. Action-packed from the seemingly innocent beginning to the satisfying end. (School Library Journal).

Gr. 2-4. Cam (short for Camera) Jansen and her faithful companion, Eric Shelton, encounter yet another mystery as they try to raise funds for charity by selling fudge bars and rice cakes. (They never do explain the mystery of that unlikely combination.) This time Cam spots a woman behaving suspiciously in the vicinity of a supposedly vacant house. It requires only Cam's photographic memory (which she activates by saying "Click" constantly), deductive reasoning, and a short surveillance for the duo to ascertain that a criminal is hiding out and to alert a grateful police force. Cam satisfies the childhood fantasy of being smarter than adults and dealing successfully with mystery and danger, and young readers seem to be able to tolerate the clicks and to suspend reality in order to marvel at her wonderful ways. Another fix for the beginning readers who demand mystery books. --Sheilamae O'Hara

I got this book for my 4'th grader because of her love for mystery. She did a report on this book for school on a similar series and loves this kind of lecture. Like you probably heard before, it's important to encourage your child to read books they are interested in, if you want them to enjoy reading, Then they will explore outside their current interest. It keeps them reading, and that's a good benefit.

Came in great time and excellent condition. My daughter really enjoyed the story

My 7 year old daughter loves these books - they are chapter books but still have pictures. I love them because, unlike Junie B. Jones (another young reader series), Cam Jansen is not disrespectful and has a lot of good values to emulate.

Cam Jansen is great. The storylines aren't babyish so it works for older readers with low reading skills.

My 6 1/2 year old son needed to read 5 books over this summer before entering into 2nd grade. I had him select two books from the teacher's "advanced reader" list to start. This was one of them and he did need some adult help. He enjoyed the book.
