If the Holy Eucharist is a reflection of the Heavenly Kingdom, the point at which eternal life begins, then the funeral rite should stand in close relation to the Liturgy. The expression of St. Athanasius that the Eucharist is the medicine of immortality means that in the Liturgy we belong to the single Body of Christ and that among us death is no more. He therefore said: Whoever does not participate in the Eucharist, and whoever is not in prayerful communion with the bishop, does not belong to the Church.

It might be said that nothing is more easily forgotten than what we think we know, and that there are times when the familiar Gospel becomes a novelty again. But in these Meditations from the substance of the instructions, sermons, and homilies of St. John Vianney, traditional teaching acquires in the mouth of a saint a more luminous evidence and an undeniable fruitfulness. This book is a treasure from the heart of the holiest priest of modern times.

For me, being a Catholic and daily receiving THE HOLY EUCHARIST this book is spiritually nourishing. After showing the book to our Pastor he wanted to borrow it. Well I did not want to part with it so I ordered one for him. Others are wanting to read it also after hearing about it.
I highly recommend this book to any one who wants to know how Saint John Vianney lived and how He brought people back to the church , having them grow in Faith and the love for THE HOLY EUCHRIST.
