I like this book: "Gardening for Florida's Butterflies" by Pamela F. Traas. Lastly, though not specific to Florida, Joe Lamp'l's "The Green Gardener's Guide" is fantastic and should be on every gardener's bookshelf. It's a new book this year and I think it has so much to offer all of us. Even if someone is not a gardener, the facts and explanations in the book are interesting. I like this book: "Gardening for Florida's Butterflies" by Pamela F.

It dedscribes 23 species of butterflies and shows them in color photos - adults, caterpillars and chysalises, as well as dozens and dozens of larval and nectar food plants. Complete growing information is included for each plant: family, plant type, geographic region, mature size, flowering time, color, light, water and soil requirements, propogation methodsand salt tolerance.
This book is well organized, with lots of pictures of plants and butterflies. Nice charts with which plants will do well in north, central or south Florida as well as what kind of environment they need (sunny, moist etc). Also information on which stage of butterfly th eplant best supports.
Good overview of the subject with little technical info. Helpful pics and enthusiasm from a local hard meter. Also does classes.
A must for all newbies starting a butterfly garden. Covers the subject from A to Z.
This is a great little book. Even though it was "used" I don't think anyone ever cracked the back binding. It's a great resource for a beginner like me. It help me select nectar and host plants and supported prior purchases (or made me appreciate that they were pretty plants a butterfly might fly on by lol) All a learning experience and this book has helped. Happy Gardening for Butterflies!
Good for butterfly gardening.
It has helped me immensely to plant a butterfly garden and maintain nectar spurces. I like this book because it gives specific butterflies in this area.
The photographs in this book make identification of eggs, larvae, chrysalids and butterflies a snap. The text isn't academic mumbo jumbo, but a conversational discussion of how to encourage butterflies to visit your yard. And the plant section is great for selection purposes...
I hope the author does a book like this for dragonflies in Florida, because I've got this pond...
This is a great teaching book.It has helped me vary much with what and how to plant. It makes it easy to learn.
