Special Papers in Palaeontology: Foreword

Special Papers in Palaeontology: Foreword. In the early thirties the late Polish palaeontologist Wilhelm Krach started the publication of a long series of papers on the mollusc faunas and the biostratigraphy of the Tertiary deposits in Poland, predominantly focusing on the Miocene of the Carpathian Foredeep. In several of these papers holoplanktonic molluscs ('pteropods') are mentioned these organisms in regional and interregional biostratigraphy, resulting in a special paper on the subject, published in 1981.
