I brought this Workbook to go along with the textbook for my college counseling course. I found the workbook to stir deep thinking not only about counseling, but about yourself. Be prepared to get to know yourself better; you will dig up faults, failures, and hindrances to your future counseling career. At the end, you will know yourself better than ever before. When you think counseling course, you automatically think gaining knowledge on how to "help others," but forget the prominence of understanding yourself, first. One can knowledgeable and educated on how to be a great counselor, but if he or she doesn't understand himself/herself, it is wasted. It makes sense that helper must understand himself/herself; Because all practitioners use themselves to help others, self-understanding would be considered vital. I learned deep things about myself throughout this workbook and I know that it will make me a better future helper/counselor.
The great thing about this text is that it gives actual case scenarios in which you get to "practice" being a counselor. It was extremely beneficial and helpful.

I think I drove my professor crazy criticizing this book because of the language in it that I objected to. As a therapist, I would never use the words: "depressing, misery, failure, sadness" or any other negativisms when dealing with clients. These words are too heavy-handed. Suppose the client were unsure of his mental state? Why use the word "depressed", etc., to remove all doubt? Also, One opening statement that therapists like to use that I would not use would be: "What brought you here today?" It might be two men in white coats. It might be the police. It might be a Yugo with the engine falling out. Why start out in a sad way?

The book was brand new just as it was listed. Nothing to complain about, exactly what I needed for class

I saved almost $70. The campus book store was charging over $100 for the newer addition. I was happy to hear that the professor approved the use of that last edition.

Expensive for a used one but i bought it because it is a text book for me.

The workbook was brand new. The shipper was fast. It only took a week for the book to arrive. I had the workbook before class started which was great.
