Ron Bisman covered harness racing in New Zealand for 45 years and his work as a writer and historian was highly respected both here and around the world. Bisman lost his year-long battle with cancer at the Dove Palliative Care Hospital on the Sunshine Coast on Thursday night aged 82. He was surrounded by family in his final days. Known as "Trotting's Gentleman", Bisman was a trail blazer for many who followed in his footsteps but despite his hefty work ethic he was not all business. Renowned for his warm smile and joke telling, Bisman was a character.
