Each time you sit down, quickly repeat these steps to help your body settle into its best position. First, start by sitting at the end of your chair. Roll your shoulders and neck forward into a full slouching position. Then, slowly pull your head and shoulders up into a tall sitting position. Stacks of books are an easy way to adjust your monitor’s height. If you’d like something more formal, a monitor desk stand is a simple device that can help.

Correct posture ensures good health, gives you confidence, and helps you . Your posture depends not only on your muscles but on the condition of your teeth as well - including the occlusion

Correct posture ensures good health, gives you confidence, and helps you look slimmer. However, despite all these benefits, most of us keep stooping, especially when sitting in front of the computer. Make sure you feel the wall with both of your shoulder blades, buttocks, and calves. Strain your abs, and breathe deeply in and out several times. Your posture depends not only on your muscles but on the condition of your teeth as well - including the occlusion. Exercises may be insufficient to get rid of a stoop.

Improve your image: People with good postures look smarter and more attractive. Have you ever seen someone with a bad posture and felt the person seemed unkempt, even though the person has not said or done anything yet? On the flip side, someone with a good posture naturally exudes an aura of assertiveness and appeal. Feel even better about yourself: When you have a good posture, it helps to make you feel more self-confident, without even doing anything else different. Try sitting in a bad posture now for 30 seconds. Now, switch to a good posture for 30 seconds as well.

11.95 is much too much for a 45 page book with very big font size and cartoonish pictures. OK for posture work at the office but really nothing new or even interesting in this book. A pamphlet would contain as much info.

I read this book and had to write my own review expressing my total disagreement with an earlier "extremely disappointed" reviewer. Posture is important but not necessarily the most fascinating subject for many people. Therefore, I appreciated the fact this book was easy to read, well organized in simple steps, and not overly verbose or lengthy. Talk or write all you want about posture, but you have to see it to understand it; how can there be too many illustrations when a picture is worth a thousand words? And how can the book be "completely lacking in information" when it "successfully defines what is good and bad posture?" I found this book to be informative and entertaining, covering the subjects of basic spinal shape, wear and tear on the body, the process of becoming misshapen, all about the proper sitting position, stretching to reverse bad posture, simple movements to relieve stress and strain (including a 60-second workout), all kinds of practical posture tips, and a monitor placard to stick right in front of your eyes. I don't think bad posture is due to a lack of exercises, it is due to a lack of posture awareness - and the book covers that topic very well. In fact, I would suggest reading any book that can help boost your posture awareness, including those (more expensive ones) mentioned below. Since when does educating yourself about posture have to be a competition, which leads me to question the motives of the reviewer? Just who is being misled here?

This 72-page book, mainly on sitting posture, is well illustrated and very easy to understand. Knowing that custom art work is expensive, I think the price is quite reasonable given the content density and clarity of the illustrations. For those wanting more information on this subject, I think this author has an expanded title called "The Science of Sitting" which has a hundred or so more pages than this book. Either way, I have learned a lot more than I knew before about posture.

Sitting Pretty is easy to read and useful. Dr. Carb lays out the basic facts about the spine and explains how your body works in everyday language that any layman could understand. Sort of like "spine 101."
Simple instructions, tips, quick & easy to follow exercises and plenty of illustrations make this book useful for the busiest desk-chained people. Also useful are the checklist to monitor your own posture mistakes and the computer placard to use while sitting at work.
The best part is that the book takes less than half an hour to read. It's short and sweet without all the jargon. I also like it because it's small enough to carry around and easy to reference.

I have been working in the corporate world for 15 years and spend a majority of time at my desk and in meetings around tables -- conference or restaurant. I am fairly active but always had lower back and shoulder discomfort. After reading this book, I have taken all of the information Dr. Carb has so masterfully simplified and applied it to my daily routine. INCREDIBLE!
This book, to me, is the end-all in simplicity -- it's full of useful information, will ease discomfort and also prevent injuries from happening.
EVERYONE needs this book!
