Anna Lord Strauss, a former president of the National League of Women Voters and a prominent supporter of various civic groups, died yesterday in her. New York City apartment. She was 79 years old. Miss Strauss became head of the league in 1945, after six years as president of the New York City branch. She held the post until 1950. Altogether I gave the league 15 years day and night, she said in a New York Times interview in 1969. She served in the President's People to People Program and served on the boards of the Women's African Commission and other organizations, including the National Council of Negro Women Education Fund and the Republicans for Progress.

Anna Lord Strauss (1899–1979) was an influential civic leader that was mainly a feminist/women's right activist, and perhaps one of her greatest accomplishments was her push for the creation of the United Nations.
